'Road Hummer'

My buddy Matt Delaney (he built the Viper-powered Charger) put together our Cruise Machine for the '03 HRPT.  It is a 1972 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus.  It has (er, had) 52,000 original miles on it, but the 318 had to go.  Matt grabbed one of his many 340 blocks and stuffed a Mopar Performance 4 inch  crank in it, had the heads worked and hid it all (416 inches of smoke-the-tires-at-will torque) under an original orange 340 breather assembly.   I  installed a tricked-out 4L60 ( 700R4) (built by yours truly) and a 2000 stall L/U convertor , with the aid of a TCI adapter kit.

This amazing car cruised at 85 MPH (2400 RPM) and achieved 19 MPG, with the A/C on!

This was due to Matt Delaney's perfect choice for an engine and its internals, and the GM 4L60 overdrive transmission.

The most incredible thing was the lack of wind noise at speed and the lack of interior noise for an older body style.   I hate to say it, but it was almost too easy!  If we would have had the time to get the cruise control installed for the 2300 mile trip, it WOULD have been too easy!
